Sunshine consistently cranks out great food from a small kitchen which is why there is often a line and wait, but service is excellent, servers are great. Sunshine is a total find for those of us who know why these places are worth the wait. So HEY... McGrumpy-heads Meg B and Jason H, your one-two star reviews are opposite the experiences we've had over 75 visits. Look around, this is a small restaurant and if you're not ready to order or your party is not there, I'd be rude to you too. You're slowing up the rest of us to get to the good stuff. And Meg... your mean server comment, snotty and middle age. Really? I think need a hug. The rest of know Sunshine is a gem.

Kicking breakfasts Sammies look awesome too but I can't escape the breakfast menu... Hot cakes eggs bacon and coffee under 10 bucks, ad an omelet and a pop for the grand and still be out for 25 +tip...
(4)Carrie P.
Great simple food. Delicious. Very amenable to adjustments to the menu. I wanted no cheese and they were able to accommodate. Kinda noisy but overall great atmosphere. Small. Get there early.
(4)Dee O.
OMG good! I had the ranchero classic which was eggs and chili verde (I substituted instead of ranchero sauce) over the most crispy, beautiful bed of hash browns you've ever seen. Great breakfast joint!
(5)Susan S.
This is a hometown diner with great diner food. Janet's blueberry pancakes are the best I've ever had! Crispy on the outside, light and fluffy on the inside. All other breakfast and lunch dishes I've tried have been delicious. Eating at Sunshine is like eating at the home of a friend who is an awesome cook. It is worth the wait if you arrive to a long line, the service is friendly and fast.
(4)Nate S.
Decent food, but brutally slow on a Saturday morning. Ninety minutes for an omelet and lukewarm biscuits and gravy feels even longer in tight quarters surrounded by screaming kids and plenty of flies. The employee applying hairspray at the pass while food was coming out was a special touch. One and done.
(2)Erin J.
I've never had a bad meal here. Their biscuits and gravy are the best I've ever had (and I try it at every breakfast place I go to). They have awesome French toast and omelets as well. It's definitely worth the wait to eat at this tiny little establishment!
(5)Julie W.
Absolutely wonderful! Crazy busy and still we had great fast and friendly service!!! And delicious food!!
(5)Kristin F.
Excellent breakfast! I had a half order of #2 (wheat pancake, egg, 2 slices of bacon) and it was fantastic. Egg was actually cooked over medium like I requested and the pancake was delightful. Half order was definitely enough! My boyfriend had the #3 (French toast, 2 eggs, and 4 slices bacon). That French toast is something else. Made out of sourdough! It was unexpected and very tasty! The syrup they brought to the table was warm and the butter is whipped to perfection. One star taken off for the wait (it's a cozy place) and the hurried waitress. Seemed like there was only one and they were pretty busy. Initially she didn't even wait for me to finish my drink order before walking off. She caught what I said, but definitely seemed to be in a rush.
(4)Karen C.
Great portions Delicious eggs Benedict and hot chocolate. Great service. Good coffee too.
(5)Joe L.
I just had a delicious breakfast here. Excellent service. Perfectly cooked omelette, hashbrowns. If you enjoy eating out for breakfast this place will not disappoint.
(5)terrence s.
This is your standard cafe food. The bacon was really good, the B&G were bland and vey salty. I sat at the counter and my service was exceptionally fast and pleasant. BUT sitting at the counter I was subjected to the rude, sarcastic and belittling comments of the waitress who I think is the owners daughter. Judging by pictures! Clearly had her favorites and other who she didn't care to serve. Remember it all customers who keep you doors open and leave tips. She need to keep he comments to herself or find a job she likes. Think I'll keep searching for my go breakfast place since moving to Bountiful.

We recently moved back to the area and love going out for breakfast on the weekends. I've driven by Sunshine Cafe and it always looked packed - so we gave it a try. I didn't read many reviews before going and only noticed the 4+ star rating, so I went in with high hopes. I have to agree with everyone else - the service is appalling! Our server seemed to pick and choose who she was nice to and we were on the bad list (maybe because we had kids?). Anyway, she never said "hi" or "how are you?". Just a very cold, and rushed "what do you want to drink?" and then took off before we could even finish our drink orders. She never checked back on us and barely gave us a look the entire time we were there. The food was good (not excellent, but good), but definitely not worth it if we're going to be treated like a huge inconvenience. We won't be back.
(2)Malcolm R.
Very good food. Especially the salads. Top notch. Ive eaten at this place probably over 3 dozen times. However some of the waittresses are kind of ...... Not so good. Because of that I gave then a 4 rating.
(4)Dew E.
Lovely little diner. Everything was delicious. Prices were good. WAY too much food. Reconsider menu's 1/2 order options ;-) I had the pancakes breakfast #2. Add pecans. Very good. Bacon was nice and extra thick. Dad had breakfast too. Eggs perfectly cooked to order, even the elusive "over medium". Mom had patty melt. Marble Rye bread, again a big portion, yummy fries, mom was happy and we took home leftovers. Great place, try it out!
(5)Scott B.
What a fun spot. We had a little but of a wait on a late Saturday morning but with outdoor seating in the shade and some menus, we were good to go. The inside is a little cozy but once we were seated, we enjoyed great customer service and the breakfast was top notch. My wife had the breakfast burrito - she said it was the best she has EVER had and she flies all over the country. The eggs, bacon and hash browns around the table were enjoyed by all. My French toast was good. My coffee had some grounds in it but was quickly replaced. The portion sizes were on the large size. Hash brown sides can definitely be shared. Overall, a great experience and we'll stop in again when chance provides an opportunity.
(4)Samantha M.
Delicious and quaint. Love the Biscuits and Gravy, Coconut French Toast, & hashbrowns made with coconut oil.
(5)Meg B.
The food is great. The waitresses are snotty middle aged women. There were 4 people in our party and 1 of us showed up late. They rushed us right when we got in and asked if we could either order for her, or leave our table until she got there. It was a Wednesday morning and no one else was currently waiting. We weren't even ready to order, and still weren't ready when she arrived 2 minutes later. I did not feel valued as a customer. I was a paying customer just like the next person was, even if one person showed up later. We all ordered at the same time anyways, and that time wouldn't have been any different even if she had gotten there the same time as us. Treat all of your customers the same!!
(2)Shannon L.
Great breakfast place. Stopped here after dropping my husband at the airport. Build your own omelet was awesome and their fruit was super fresh. Very friendly service. They were great with my daughter and accommodating her as well.
(4)Chris B.
Great food. It can really get crowded on the weekend. Prices are reasonable but the server (female) Can be rude or impersonable.
(3)Jim G.
Best breakfast cafe in Davis or Salt lake counties. The only downside is its a little small and sometimes you have to wait for a table but it's worth it. The service is wonderful the food is very good quality. This is a rare gem you should treat yourself to.
(5)Armando C.
This place is pretty tasty but quite small. If you go on a holiday or weekend be prepared with a pocket full of patience. It is worth the wait.
(5)Hope L.
Excellent food! Best burger that I've had in a really long time! Nice staff, super friendly.
(5)Julia R.
Good food! Great Prices! They don't have slings for car seats. It was extremely cold inside. We waited an hour for our food and it was not very warm, good though! I was bothered by the amount of teenagers in and out of the kitchen who obviously dont work there. Also 2 sets of seniors waited to be seated and the girl seated her 5 friends before them that I didnt think was very cool.
(5)Jesse T.
Very good but not worth the wait on for Sunday brunch. Either expand or speed up the orders.
(4)Kim T.
Drove a little ways from Murray, but it was worth it. Very cute little diner. Got here about 9:30 and were lucky to get a table. By the time we were done, there were many people waiting outside for a table. I have to support this local place because they do everything right. Owner, Janet was cooking ... the service was good ... the prices were so reasonable ... and the food was really good.
(4)Dee S.
Perfect morning stop for breakfast! Everything was delicious. Friendly staff. It gets 4 stars from me because of late service. We went at 8 AM and they took almost 30 minutes to serve us breakfast.
(4)Rorschach R.
I'd driven by this little cafe in North Salt Lake for close to ten years visiting family and friends. It wasn't until I moved back to the area that we decided to give it a try. First off, the portions are enormous. I ordered a full size breakfast my first time, and I could only finish about One -Third of the gigantic scramble. The half order is generally enough. My wife ordered a breakfast that came with a side of pancakes. She upgraded them to the Holy Pancake. I myself have always been a bit indifferent to pancakes. When she offered me a bite, I went along just to be polite. These pancakes changed my outlook. They made me think that we've been eating pancakes wrong for all these years. They are covered with Sunshine Cafe's own granola mix. They are light and fluffy with a crisp, crunchy granola topping, but not so crunchy to be distracting. I've since made numerous to go orders of just these pancakes.
(5)L G.
Short review: Come here for the breakfast. This place has the potential to perfect, but there are a few things that keep it from being so. Service is great, friendly and attentive staff (even when it gets busy). It's a little rough around the edges, but that eclectic, hodge-podge, funky diner-feel gives this place character. I I don't feel like my food would be unsanitary at any time. The menu is the reason I've come here - fresh ingredients, lots of vegetable options (For the area), and of course your classic diner fare. The food is good, but this is where they could make a few tweaks and really excel. If they used fresh herbs, different oils like coconut oil (instead of tons of butter), spices that would take their perfectly fine food to out-of-this-world flavor-town perfection. My advice to the cooks: take a few chances and flavor your food, but that doesn't mean slathering tons of sauce or gravy on everything. Just give each dish a little more direction. Use Turmeric, GARLIC, curry- go crazy. Haha. I'll be back for sure.
(4)Surly M.
Place was clean, service fast and friendly, food delicious. However it took entirely too long. No one should be waiting 30 minutes to get their food in a place with 8 tables. Either expand the kitchen or cut back on the number of tables.
(3)Ciara J.
I basically have the same review as many before me. The wait (warranted it IS Valentine's) was 50 minutes, (yesterday we stopped by and it was 30) which is average here (no reservations is the stupidest thing ever) and after we ordered our food it took them 36 minutes to get it to us. They also got my mom's order wrong-gave her a random pancake alongside her order, never gave her the tea she asked for, and her hash browns were disgustingly rock hard. She also comments that her toast, eggs and bacon were good, but nothing special. Service is impersonal, mostly irritated-ish, rare, and always short-lived. The waitress asked us for our order, gave us our receipt and those were her only interactions with us. There were no greetings, 'Welcome to Sunshine Cafe!' Or any 'Thanks for coming!'s either. Way too much noise. Way too small of a diner for as many people service it. The only thing that merits 2 stars was my French toast and my poached eggs-scrumptious. I don't think I'll come here again, it wasn't worth the wait or the poor service.
(2)Rich G.
This cafe came highly recommended by many people. When I walked in, the atmosphere struck me as being the usual small town diner. The ubiquitous Coca Cola memorabilia was on the wall, pictures and post cards from around the country also hung near the counter. The staff was somewhat distant. Not a great deal of friendliness unless you were a regular. That was a bit of a disappointment. I ordered the #1 which was simply eggs, bacon, hashbrowns and toast. The food was fresh and cooked exactly as ordered which quite truthfully does not happen that often. Bacon is not always crispy and eggs over medium seems to be a difficult concept to many breakfast places. So they excelled in my view with having the food served to me exactly as ordered. Overall, I would give them 4 stars. They are just a little behind Millcreek Cafe with the quality, but they are not to far behind. If you want a good, tasty breakfast at a reasonable price, go.
(4)Steve K.
Really great breakfasts! The lunches are good to but you go for the breakfasts. I generally always order the Denver Scramble (or whatever it's called...I know where to find it on the menu) and I get a 1/2 order because it's so big. A side of bacon and I'm set. It could use more seating and it's sometimes a little slow getting your order out to you but not always and it's worth a little more of a wait. I almost always have to wait for a table but I usually only go on Saturdays, so it makes more sense.
(4)Chris W.
Good food, reasonable prices... Located next to a Chevron gas station off Center St in NSL. From the look of it you wouldn't think much of this place and probably wouldn't care to try it out. Small place, not a lot of seating. Service ...might not be that great because they're busy. I asked for some recommendations and was told that everything is good, they have a lot, and she's pretty busy...implying she didn't have time for me. So you probably won't be impressed with the customer service. Food ...was hoping for the country fried steak, as other Yelpers recommended it, but was told it's only offered on Thursdays. We tried three items: -Biscuits & gravy: the biscuits were soft and pretty good, not as big and soft as Ruth's Diner though. The first few bites were great and there is a strong taste to the gravy. But after the first biscuit the taste starts to overpower you, so just have a little. -French toast: it's quite good, not too thin and not too thick, soft and moist...though tasteless without syrup. Some places do well to add some flavor in or make it stuffed. But if you're looking for the standard classic french toast, this is great. -Breakfast burrito: went in with high expectations because of what other Yelpers said but was let down. The tortilla was good (the pic on Yelp makes it look thick, dry and burnt; it's actually thin tortilla), lots of cheese and TONS of hash--but the hash was mostly undercooked. The hash that was actually cooked and crispy was great, but most of it was very much undercooked. Paid an extra $1 to add meat (chose sausage) and there was barely any in it, so that was disappointing. Had that greasy stomach feeling afterward. Don't think I'd ever try it again. Price ...they don't overcharge and it will be noticeably less expensive that other breakfast hotspots. You're not paying for an atmosphere and the ambiance will not be as enjoyable as Ruth's Diner or Park Cafe...or even IHOP or Denny's.
(4)Wendy H.
This place is awesome! The service is superb and the food is consistently amazing. Reviewers on Yelp complain about the wait; we make sure to get there before 9:30am on the weekends and never have to wait. Granted, the place is small - only a few tables - so it is only ideal for groups of 1-4 people.
(5)Charlie K.
Pancakes to die for, great diner for weary travelers. Large portions and the pancakes are huge!!
(5)Michael R.
Sweet little place. Food is good and really plentiful. Seems like the pancakes and French toast were the most popular. Service helpful but somewhat slow to bring out the food. Not too bad, but worth the wait.
(4)Tonya S.
Sunshine Cafe is a great breakfast spot, it can get crowded and the lines have scared us away in the past, it is worth the wait! Love the environment and staff! You get a lot if bang for your buck!
(5)Brooke R.
One of the best places for breakfast along the Wasatch Front. Pancakes are delicious. One of the most popular is the granola pancake. Some of the best bacon at any breakfast place I've been. And the Sunshine Benedict is a great twist on eggs Benedict. Bacon instead of ham...genius! The wait staff is attentive and friendly. It is small so there is usually a 20ish minute wait, but it is worth it. It is not the best for large groups either, but honestly, the best breakfast places rarely are. Do your self a favor and grab some breakfast grub at Sunshine Cafe!
(5)Siu V.
Something about the breakfast sausage burrito with their homemade salsa oohhh sooo soo good. A little hole in the wall for sure. I would recommend to anyone looking for good breakfast good lunch and good hot chocolate! Be prepared to wait in line.
(5)Michael L.
Stopped in for a late lunch. Ordered cobb salad. Good value, large portions. Fresh ingredients but unremarkable. Could use moe blue cheese. Honey mustard seemed store bought. Decent diner, but nothing seemed unique.
(3)Sam S.
Sunshine Cafe is a small and let me emphasize small cafe in North Salt Lake. It only has a few tables and a counter area, so on busy days be prepared for a wait. We went to Sunshine Cafe on a Sunday morning and ended up waiting 20 or 30 minutes before we were seated at the counter. Had we wanted a table it would have taken even longer. Plan accordingly. The service was good at Sunshine Cafe and our waitress was friendly. After ordering our food was served up quickly and we started eating. I had my usual two egg breakfast with eggs over easy, bacon, hashbrowns, wheat toast, and orange juice. The food was good, but it was a little heavy and a little oily for my tastes. My wife's was about the same. Overall we enjoyed the meal and liked the Sunshine Cafe. If it were closer to home I'd eat here again but given the distance from our house I don't see myself going back too often. If you live nearby and want a new breakfast joint give the Sunshine Cafe a try.
(3)James P.
Wanted to come here for a while! I had the #1 Breakfast (Great), and my Daughter had the French Toast it was also good (I liked the hot syrup). Great spot for breakfast, I'd come back!
(4)Candice S.
I heard about this place years ago while I was living in Texas listening to a Utah radio station online. They mentioned something about whole wheat pancakes with granola topped with peanut butter. The tantalizing image of a tasty breakfast stayed with me until we moved here in February. Guess what I ordered on my first visit? The pancake was bigger than my head. FILLED with crunchy and sweet granola. One pancake was too much to possibly eat in one sitting and only 2 bucks. Add an order of their perfectly crispy hashbrowns and a cup of joe and you are set. K gets one of their breakfast combinations and has loved all of them. The ankle biters like bagels and scrambled eggs. On a whim I ordered the grilled cheese on sourdough with fries for breakfast one day and it did not disappoint. The staff is so friendly, and it's fun to watch them interacting with their regulars. Seating is very limited, so be prepared to wait if you go during breakfast. They can accomadate kids but it gets a little tight with a highchair sticking out in the aisle. They have games for the ankle biters at the register, as well as magazines to peruse while you wait. Breakfast runs from $2-7. Go! Go now! Support local!!!
(5)John O.
For my 400th Yelp review, I'm reviewing the Sunshine Cafe in NSLC. I come here once a week and get a breakfast burrito. Its got bacon, hashed browns, egg, diced green chiles, and melted cheddar cheese for $6.48 (tax included). It's a very tasty burrito and the best breakfast burrito I have yet to consume while living in SLC. Not the best breakfast burrito I've had in my life, but I've had some amazing breakfast burritos in my day. Cute little "local" neighborhood restaurant that feels like the "Cheers" of breakfast/lunch diners. There can be one waitress serving about 13 tables at lunch time (I have seen more), so be patient, especially around lunch time. Now for the cons (minus one star): I watch the 22 year old cooks in the back preparing food. I've seen them scratch their butt, drink soda pop on the job, nosh on the food while preparing it........you name it. Food handling? What for? Quite frankly, it's unsightly and furthermore, it's unsanitary. I have yet to get sick here but I'll tell you, watching the cooking habits of the kids in the back really makes me feel ill......................
(4)Caryll C.
This was a gem...by far the friendliest little diner. Breakfast was outstanding..they even offer half portions. Off the beaten path and well worth it. NJ
(5)Jedd W.
Always seems busy. Reasonable prices for breakfast fare. The food is what you'd expect for a breakfast joint. The staff is friendly enough, but here's the downside: Waiting for a table to open.
(4)Sherry E.
Great breakfast! Half orders are a great idea unless you are absolutely starving. Pancakes are fluffy and delicious, crispy bacon, hashbrowns perfect. I have nothing but good things to say. Staff is very nice as well.
(5)Julie K.
Best breakfast ever! Cobb salad is my lunch favorite. They just need a bigger place....usually a wait for a table, but it is worth it!!!!
(5)Stephanie K.
So good!! Always busy, expect a wait but so worth it! The owner cooks every order and cares about the food she serves. The waitresses are fun but not chatty. The coffee is good, hot and served fresh. The hot chocolate comes with great whip cream. Always get the sourdough toast, it's the best!! Ham steak, bacon, sausage you can't go wrong with any of them. Pancakes are amazing and ambiguous as your head!!
(5)Deano G.
Big fan! The Denver omelet was huge and tasted fantastic! Biscuits and gravy looked amazing, the meat lovers breakfast was yummy (I only tasted it, but yum). The guy next to me had the chili and it looked really good, loaded with cheese and onions (just the way I like it) & they had a tri-tip smoking on the smoker when I came in and it looked really good too. I can't wait to get back in and try a few more things on the menu.... My one piece of advise, train your servers to wash ther hands after caughing, sneezing, or touching themselves.... It's the only thing that kept me from giving it 5 stars.
(4)Amber N.
Sunshine Cafe is a must see place if you are in the area. They have quality food, large portions, reasonably priced and great service. Every time we visit Utah we schedule breakfast at Sunshine.
(5)Byron S.
Nice surprise today for lunch. Tight quarters, so we sat at the four chair counter. Small kitchen produced some really good food for the group. I had the chili and had a great taste. Plenty postcards on the wall. Worth a stop.
(4)Kevin M.
Quirky renegade upstart doing the best they can with a limited dining space. The dining area is an abomination of a small triangle seating area where plug in space heaters bravely attempt to drive back the sub zero temperatures. Having 100 degree heat blast your face while your ass is freezing just doesn't work. The food is good, nice ingredients and very well prepared. The french toast is light, fluffy and very tasty. The preparation of eggs and sides is overall very good. I have the feeling that if I had eaten here in the spring, summer, or fall, there would have been at least 1 more star, maybe 2. As a winter destination, hell no,
(3)Brandy J.
This is what you think of when you think little hole in the wall. The meal was so delicious. Tastes just like homemade. Coffee was hot and strong. This is the place to come for a home style breakfast.
(5)Sarah C.
What a great little diner! This place has been pretty thoroughly reviewed, so I'll just offer the following advice: 1. Be prepared to wait. You'll probably just be waiting about 10-20 minutes, but you will wait, and there isn't a comfortable place TO wait. It's annoying. 2. The "classic" breakfasts are ENORMOUS. Get the half order unless you're a sumo wrestler. Seriously tasty, home-cooked stuff, but SO MUCH OF IT and you will want to try to eat it all!
(4)Eli W.
Great Breakfast! Fresh hash, crisp bacon, perfectly toasted rye bread.... Comfort food at its best
(5)Allison M.
You can't go wrong, with anything you choose to order here!! It's a small, small pace.....and the wait can be long....but it's worth it!! Any of the breakfast items are Fab! The lunch too! Just given it a try! You won't be disappointed!
(5)Cory S.
I love Janet's. every time I come here I usually get the meat-lovers classic with veggies or garden classic. The omelette version of those plates are just as good too. I brought my girlfriend and she swears by the ranchero sauce. The lunches are great too! They have a daily special on weekdays that are really tasty as well. Enjoy!
(5)A A.
Service was good. The place is relatively small so we had to wait to be seated. Food was tasty but quite heavy. I had the garden classic, we got a garden which was too but it was covered and doused with cheese. It was too heavy for me to eat or finish. Next time I'll ask for without cheese. French toast was tasty
(5)Paul C.
It's amazing, chicken fried steak is to die for. The breakfast burrito is another must eat!
(5)MC Free W.
This wonderful little diner is already too crowded on the weekends. I ain't sayin' nuthin'.
(4)Aj C.
Friendly service - gal brought tea instead of coffee by mistake and made it a joke the rest of the visit. GREAT FOOD! The scone rivals Sills and is big for the price. Large portions and fun atmosphere make this place worth the visit. Packed on Sundays, come early.
(5)John A.
For those of you who are looking for a hidden breakfast gem, this place is worth the trip to North SL. I live in Woods Cross and make the short trip over on the weekends. This place is small but worth the wait. If you do not mind, take the counter seats if they offer them. They have limited seating inside - so make sure you have them take your name and wait outside or where they can see you. They open at 8:00 am and close at about 2:00 pm on the weekend. There is usually a line of regulars waiting at the door before they even open - so that should be a good indicator of how busy or good this place is. The coffee is decent, unlimited refills. I usually go for the Breakfast Burrito stuffed with Eggs, Sausage, Cheese, potatoes and onions. They serve it with a side of salsa. I recommend the pancakes (regular or granola pancakes). This place is very inexpensive and the food is great. The servers are very nice and I love the quotes they put up. I'm sure if you have it once - chances are you will return again.
(4)Nicole C.
Today (4/25/10) I ordered the breakfast burrito with 1 piece of french toast. The burrito was gianormous. It was filled with eggs, hashbrowns, cheese, green chiles, bacon (or sausage) and it comes with a side of tasty salsa. The french toast, as always, was delectable. *sigh* Twas fabulous. All-in-all, we had: Omelet with an extra side of toast Short stack of pancakes English muffin sandwich Side of french toast Breakfast burrito with bacon 1 soda 1 orange juice 1 black coffee ....and our total bill was 28 bucks. o_O Love this place.
(4)Peter W.
You can travel high and low for good breakfast food and will not find better than Sunshine Cafe. The french toast is as good as it gets. We've had omelets and pancakes and could recommend them as well. In fact, our only complaint is the hours of operation (we wish they were a late-night option), and the seating capacity. (not sure if more than 25 people could eat at a time)
(4)Jess F.
This adorable little diner is small but the good is to die for tasty! I've ordered several things before and have never been disappointed. More space would be nice but its a pleasant cafe.
(5)Daniel M.
The dishes on Fridays are the best. They make a cheesy Cajun pasta that is unmatched in Utah. The smoked tri tip is tender and mouth watering. I love this place. Get there early because seating is limited. The only con to eating at the diner instead of getting it to go is that you will smell like the place for the rest of the day.
(4)Kristin K.
French toast with eggs & bacon is DELICIOUS!!! Can't wait to go back!
(5)Carla A.
Quoted10 minute wait after 20 we could see that it was going to be longer. When we told the host we were leaving she rolled her eyes at us. Horrible customer service, very small cafe. Bad first impression.
(1)Ty J.
A fantastic breakfast in Davis County and definitely worth the wait. Expect to wait at least 20 minutes and dining in tight quarters (small space). I cannot compare the delicious bacon and eggs to any other breakfast diner around. The cook is very good and keeps an eye on her clients as they enjoy her yummy traditional dishes. Love this place.
(5)Eva W.
The Sunshine Cafe is located in the town of Bountiful, Utah, in a mini strip mall, next to a Life Coach agency. We pulled up and I was told that this was really an intervention and that I was being taken to the Life Coach place instead of breakfast..Haha... In sunglasses and pajamas, we were a hot mess from a wild night on the crazy streets of SLC. We heard the french toast was TDF, so we had to check it out. I ordered biscuits and gravy, eggs, hashbrowns, and french toast. Everything was delicious. Everything was painted sunny and happy and yellow, the way a breakfast place should be.
(4)Jeanette S.
SO amazing! I saw the reviews about the pancakes with granola and peanut butter so I knew I had to try it. I got mine as a whole wheat pancake and I LOVED it. So so so good. I also had the garden classic. Also really good. I was so full that I couldn't eat until dinner. I can't wait to go again!
(5)Debbie B.
Small place so tables are at a premium. Cute atmosphere, with old time signs on the walls, and cute sayings. Also have a shelf with magazines to read and games for kids to play. The saying today was something like, I feel Super Lazy today. That is lazy with a cape! Silly, but made me smile. I was able to see the cooks behind the counter which was interesting. Not hectic, they seemed to be enjoying themselves and cooking and doing what needs to be done. We arrived at 10:45am for breakfast. Perfect time...too late for breakfast crowd and too early for lunch crowd. We had our choice of seating. Waitress very efficient and business like. I ordered a 1/2 order of biscuits & gravy with eggs & hash browns. 1/2 order so 1 biscuit and 1 egg, but not half the price. Still plenty to eat and I like the option of smaller portions. Also ordered a single pancake. Eggs over easy cooked perfectly and delicious. Hash browns were crispy and good. Nothing special. Biscuit & gravy was good. Very peppery so there was a bite to it. They add something to the gravy that makes it taste different than just a white sauce. Very good. Pancake was plate sized and good. Again, nothing special but good & fluffy. I like that they served warmed syrup with it. Overall, nothing outstanding, but all good. We will return.

This place is awesome. Thats about all I can say. Wheat pecan pancakes...amazing. Everything is homecooked. Seating and parking is scarce, but the food quality and price are totally worth it. Lots of regulars come here. You can see them sidle up to the single seats at the bar and the waitress knows exactly what they want. This place is highly recommended. They close fairly early, but for lunch and breakfast they cant be beat.

Im with greg on this one (sup greg). Good food. cute-as-hell servers (in a mom sort of way) sunny, bright creative. Daily specials almost always great. Good portions. The salads rule, crispy and fresh. My only complaint would be the egg dishes sometimes get cooked too brown.

This is quite possibly the best food and service in North Salt Lake and Davis County. The prices are almost too cheap for the amount of food you receive plus it is all very fresh. The only pitfall is the size of the cafe, which means you may have to wait a while on weekends due to the cafe's popularity but please bare in mind it is so worth the wait.

One of the best little secrets of the Bountiful area, Sunshine Cafe has attracted a loyal little following with their delicious food and friendly staff. Serving both breakfast and lunch, Sunshine Cafe is exactly what you would expect from a small, locally owned diner. The food is incredible and tastes just like a homemade breakfast. The french toast is my favorite, though the biscuits and gravy are delicious too. Protip: get the oatmeal pancake and put peanut butter and syrup on it, it's to die for! Lunch is amazing too and they have a wide variety of selections for whatever mood you are in. The only downside is that the cafe is small and can get crowded, especially on weekends expect to wait between 30 and 45 minutes for your food. Other than that, amazing!

I've heard a lot of people rave about this place in the past few days. My boyfriend and I went there this morning for breakfast. It was small and I could see how wait times could be large if you didn't get there on time. The staff was very friendly and knew many customers by name, greeting each other like old friends. The atmosphere was nice. I ordered the bagel sandwich with bacon and my boyfriend has the ham and cheese omelet. When we got our food I was a bit disappointed. At first glance I could tell that his hash browns and toast were burnt and so was my bacon. Not to mention everything was just layered with grease. I don't think we'll be going back, but always nice to try a local spot out.

The only bad part about this place is that is so far away from my house. I had the garden classic and it was fantastic.

I love this place, best breakfast near bountiful bar none.. Small little cafe that is family owned and run, always busy on the weekends.. Best french toast and hashbrowns in town. Prices are sooo cheap it almost feels like I'm ripping them off everytime I eat there. If you want a totally satisfying breakfast at a little local eatery go check this place out. It's kind of in a crappy little shopping center but don't let that discourage you, this place is the real deal. While writing this review all I can think of is going this weekend and partaking in some delicious breakfast fare at Sunshine Cafe.

This is an amazing place to go for breakfast. The pancakes are HUGE. Their bacon is awesome, and the french toast was amazing. Prices are very good. Definitely check this place out.

Great place for breakfast (served all day) or lunch. Good food, great service. The only thing that could make this place better is more tables.

So delicious! The best whole wheat pancake I've ever had and very glad I took the other reviewers advice and added granola. Dank. Perfect hashbrowns w/ cheese and bacon was crispy and bomb. I had food left over, which is rare, and left with a full tummy and a huge smile :) I cannot wait to return and if not just for their little ice cubes but to try somethin else, actually, I'm leaving right now! 2 days in a row!

Worth the wait! I start my review this way because you will most likely be waiting- I recommend walking across the street and taking a walk around the elementary school track if you go on a Saturday or Sunday (after you get your name on the list, of course). The homemade salsa alone is worth the visit. Soooooo good! And they bring it to you in a syrup sized jar, so there is plenty for the whole table. I always get the breakfast burrito, I recommend adding meat (worth the extra $1). Just try this restaurant once and you'll be hooked.... or don't, and my wait will be shorter :-)
